ハワイの車のナンバープレートは通常、

文字３桁と数字３桁で構成されています。

 

写真は僕の車のナンバープレートです。

私用車なので、文字３桁の後、スペースが有って、数字３桁。

 

これが社用車になると数字３桁が先に来て、その後文字３桁が並びます（例：１１１　AAA）

 

しかし、年間費（＄６０）を払えば、希望する車のナンバーを持つ事が出来ます。その際は文字と数字の間の真ん中のスペースも使う事が可能でこれにより最大７桁のスペースを好きな組み合わせて（全部文字でも数字でも可）作る事が出来ます

 

もちろん７文字以下でもオッケーで、当然一番人気はやはり「ALOHA」のナンバープレート。

 

１５年ほど前だと思いますが、仕事でALOHAのナンバープレートを所有してる方に会った事があります。その時点でその人は２０年以上もそのナンバー（ALOHA)を所有してるとの事でした。

 

なので、当然SURFER、MAHALOなど人気の高い文字配列はとっくの誰かが所有してるので、ALOOOHA、SURFFERなど、スペルは間違ってても、同じサウンド（発音）の物を作り、登録したナンバーをよく見かけます。

Aloha everyone. Today I have a little quiz for you. 

 

Vehicle license plate number in Hawaii  is made of three letters and three numbers 

 

Pictured is the license plate on my car and as you can see , there’s  three letters,  a space between,  and  three numbers . 

 

This applies to all private vehicles, but if the vehicle is registered as a company car, it will have the three numbers  first , then the  three letters (Sample :111 AAA)

 

If you want a customized  license plate, you can get one as long as the letter and number combination you have chozen  is not already registered by someone else and you pay a  $60 annual fee.

 

For the customized license plates. you can also use the space in the middle as well  which will give you seven digits total .

 

Obviously the most popular is ALOHA . About 15 years ago I met the person that actually had the ALOHA plate . He told me he has had  it or more than 20 years.

 

So people will get creative and come up with words that sound like what they want but spelled differently  such as ALOOOHA , SURFFER etc
